In 1960, a pivotal moment arrived as Abbeyleix AFC relocated to its current location, marking the inception of an era of growth and transformation.

The club’s history intertwines with the spirit of community support. With the invaluable assistance of Abbeyleix Park Development, our clubhouse came to life in 1980. This marked the genesis of a burgeoning football hub that would witness massive growth and development over the years. The ongoing support from PAS and the unwavering commitment of countless volunteers have been instrumental in propelling the club’s evolution.
Evolving From Strength to Strength
From humble beginnings of fielding a single senior team, Abbeyleix AFC now proudly boasts two senior teams, a youth team, and an impressive fleet of 15 juvenile teams. These teams compete fiercely in Laois/Offaly, Westmeath, and the CCFL League, showcasing their prowess and commitment to excellence.
A Legacy of Triumphs
Abbeyleix AFC’s teams have consistently etched their names in glory, securing league titles and cups in succession. Notably, the Juvenile section stands as the powerhouse of the club, with 15 dynamic teams participating in the Midlands Schoolboy/Girls League, spanning from under 8 to under 16. This year, the juvenile section’s remarkable achievements earned the prestigious accolade of Club of the Year.
Nurturing Talent, Empowering Coaches
The club’s commitment to development extends beyond the pitch. Twelve dedicated juvenile coaches have completed rigorous coaching programs, embracing First Aid, AED Training, and Code of Ethics. Abbeyleix AFC is dedicated to fostering talent and creating a safe, nurturing environment for both players and coaches.
